"Brainpower" -> Stop Television

Face it, the love of television is the root of all kinds of evil.

I can give you roughly 15-30 more hours per week, help you lose weight, and reduce your risk of Alzheimers. Sounds like a miracle drug?

The catch? You need to stop watching television.

Guess what: Watching a lot of television on the weekends is going to turn your kids fat.

So said the authors of a study by The Journal Of Pediatrics. You can find the abstract here.

The World Almanac has been reporting for a number of years that the average USA resident watches around 30 hours of television per week. This fundamental fact has come up many times in the research. Watching television is correlated with obesity.

If obesity was not enough, watch an additional hour of television per day and increase you chance of Alzheimer 30%. You can find the abstract here.

And the question is why do we watch this stuff?

You can see the top ten shows in different area here.

Some of it is highly entertaining. Most of it is extremely well done by people who are paid a lot of money. However, it is junk. It is not filling. It does not make you better. It's only purpose is to distract. After you are done with your television meal, you have added nothing to your brain.

So here are the principles of going on a television diet: Television is a wonderful thing. The abuse of television is not.
